Arrival and registration at Lund University
1. Contact your family/friends to let them know you arrived!
Use the free internet computers at Arrival Day or at the International Desk to send a quick message home. You can also activate your refill phone card (provided in your welcome pack) to access some free credit to call home.
If you have your own laptop or smartphone, you can access the free Wi-Fi on campus with your student account login (refer to instructions in your Student Guide?or refer to number 6 in this checklist).
2. Bring important documents and photo ID
Always bring your 'notification of results'/'letter of acceptance' and your photo identification?(passport or EU ID card) during the first few weeks – you will be asked for these a lot!
3. Complete your registration and enrolment
Present your 'notification of results'?print-out, or your 'letter of acceptance?(exchange student), so that we can register your arrival during Arrival Day.?If you arrive after Arrival Day, visit the International Desk with your 'notification?of results'/'letter of acceptance' to receive your welcome pack and so we can record that you have arrived. If you are an?exchange student, you?must also attend the 'Registration/Meet Your Coordinator' day to finalise your study plans.
All students must attend the first class to complete enrolment. If you will arrive after the first day of class, contact your programme/course coordinator in advance so they know when to expect you and your place in the programme is kept.
4.?Present your final degree diploma to your programme coordinator (if applicable)
If you were given conditional admission and need to show you completed your Bachelor's degree, please submit your final transcripts and diploma to your www.universityadmissions.se account (according to any country-specific requirements) and also bring these with you to Lund to show them to?your programme coordinator. They will inform the admissions office accordingly. Remember to bring a certified copy (or the original), and any relevant official translations according to the official requirements for documents.
5. Participate in your department’s introduction activities
Your department's introduction activities may cover topics such as services available to students in the department, key academic and administrative staff, health and safety, resources etc.
6. Log in to your student email and the Student Portal
If you have not already done so, log in to your?student email account?and?the Student Portal. You log in to these services using your student account (consisting of a user ID and a password).?Remember to check your student account emails regularly during your time at Lund University so you don't miss any?important information!

8. Join the Orientation Weeks activities
Some of the activities during the Orientation Weeks require a ticket. Tickets are sold at Arrival Day. You can also visit the International Desk.
9. Join Studentlund
Get a Studentlund membership and get involved in the fantastic?student life at Lund University.
10. Be updated through social media
Follow the International Desk Facebook page to be alerted to regular activities organised for international students and as a forum to ask general questions during your time at Lund University. Follow the @lunduniversity Instagram account to see life through the eyes of other current international students. Join the #hejlunduni competition during the Orientation Weeks?for the?chance to have your photo?featured on the official Instagram account and even be in to win a Lund University backpack.?
Official matters in Sweden
11. Apply for a Swedish personal number
If you will be here for more than 12 months, you should?apply for a Swedish personal number?with?Skatteverket (Swedish tax office). Be sure to check which documents you need to take with you in order to apply for the Swedish personal number.
12. Visit the Swedish Migration Agency office
If you are a non-EU student and if you do not yet have a Swedish residence permit card (UT card), you need to?get photographed and fingerprinted at the?Swedish Migration Agency office?(National Service Centre)?in Malm??(i.e. you did not require a visa in order to travel to Sweden and are therefore able to instead provide your biometrical data once you are in Sweden).
Practical matters for day-to-day life
13. Get a Swedish mobile phone number
A refill phone card is provided in your welcome pack. Refer to the Student Guide?(in your welcome pack) for more details on where to get a mobile phone/phone cards/internet deals.
14. In case of an emergency – call 112
Remember the emergency number in Sweden is 112 – for ambulance, police or in case of fire.
15. Find your nearest shops
Check your Student Guide?(in your welcome pack) for tips on local?supermarkets, pharmacies and shopping areas.
16. Find a local health care centre

17.?Get a bike and a good bike lock!
The fastest way to get around Lund is by bike. Getting a second-hand bike is ideal – you can find one in a local shop, in the?'bike auctions' arranged by the city of Lund a few times a year, or buy one from students who have finished their studies and are about to leave Lund (often advertised in Facebook's Sell/Buy groups, or in Swedish online classifieds such as blocket.se). You don't need a fancy bike, but you should?invest in a good bike lock. Find out the road rules! Be aware that, by law, you need a white light on the front of your bike and a red light on the back of your bike.
18. Access the local public transport
The easiest way to buy tickets is?through the Sk?netrafiken app, where you will also?find current train and bus schedules. With the app, you can get separate?tickets for occasional travels (single or 24-hour) or buy a monthly ticket.
Please note that you always need to be able to show your Studentlund student card (see point 9) if you make use of the student discount.
Also keep in mind that?cash is not accepted on buses or trains. You always need to have a valid and activated ticket before you board a train. On the green city buses, you can scan your debit/credit card to buy a ticket (if your card allows for contactless payment) and on?the yellow regional buses, you can buy a ticket directly from the bus driver using your debit/credit card.

19. Get financial matters organised?
Read the information about setting up a bank account in Sweden (from the link below).?If you do not have online banking, read more about making bill payments through 'Kassagirot'?services at a local convenience store by checking your Student Guide (in your welcome pack).
